DD-DMS GPS Convert

Convert units in DMS and DD coordinate systems for use with GPS navigators.

The coordinates on the GPS (Global Positioning System) we use in our home (Thailand) is only used in two systems.

Geographic coordinates and UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator)

Reading in the UTM coordinate system is not that difficult. Because you read the numbers by East (X value) and North (Y value) and UTM units are in meters already.

But geographic coordinates are a bit cumbersome because some GPS units display geographic coordinates in units.

The so-called DMS: Degree Minute Second.

Or is expressed in units in the decimal (DD: Decimal Degree)

To apply to the computer So when we want to use one of them. It must be converted (Convert)

DMS value is DD or DD is DMS.

1. Geographic coordinates, called Degrees Minute, are DMS (Degree Minute Second) units, like units of time, hours, minutes and seconds.

Degree 1 Degrees Degree 60 Degrees

Minute 1 minute is 60 minutes.

The second one is a distance of about 30.48 m or 100 ft.

2. DD (Decimal Degree) means decimal value. The decimal number in DD units.

For example, located at latitude 100.123456 North, Longitude 7.12345 east.
